Hunter, our male chocolate lab, joined our family in 2011 as a trained shed hunting dog. With his exceptional intelligence, boundless energy, and affectionate nature, Hunter quickly became an integral part of our lives. His unwavering dedication to finding sheds is unmatched, and his focused demeanor during hunts is truly impressive.
Throughout his illustrious career, Hunter’s drive and skill have led him to remarkable achievements. He reached the finals of the World Shed Dog Championship in both 2012 and 2013, showcasing his prowess in the field. In 2014, he earned the prestigious title of “Amateur World Champion,” narrowly missing the Open title by just one second to a professional handler.
Hunter’s legacy extends beyond his accomplishments. Many of his offspring have inherited his exceptional shed hunting abilities, with over two dozen qualifying to compete in the NASHDA World Championships and one being recognized as the first UKC Elite Shed Dog of the Year.
After competing in his final shed competition in 2017, Hunter officially retired from his role as a stud dog in 2019. Now, he enjoys the freedom of wild shed hunts at his leisure, relishing in moments of relaxation and basking in the love and attention bestowed upon him by our family. Hunter’s retirement marks the end of an era, but his legacy as a remarkable shed hunting dog lives on in our hearts and in the success of his offspring.
